Summer Maintenance/Labourer - Parks & Recreation (2 Positions)

The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Summer Maintenance/Labourer. The summer maintenance/labourers will be responsible for assisting full time staff to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of designated facilities and parks for the Town of Renfrew. This includes, but not limited to:

  • Performing regular cleaning and housekeeping duties of indoor spaces.
  • Performing required maintenance of outdoor spaces (i.e. mowing, whipping, raking, etc.).

Household Hazardous Waste Depot Attendant

The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Household Hazardous Waste Attendant – Summer Term to operate the Household Hazardous Waste Program at the Renfrew Landfill.  The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, sorting, packaging, and tracking household hazardous waste (e.g. automotive fluids, paint, cleaning products, aerosols, light bulbs, batteries, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) for shipment. They will also assist landfill users by directing them to the appropriate disposal locations and help landfill staff with basic maintenance activities (e.g. litter pick up, grass cutting, cleaning etc.). Assistant Museum Director

The Assistant Museum Director assists in the day-to-day operation of the museum and visitor information centre. They are the team leader and responsible for operations when the Curator/Archivist is not present. They assist with staff and volunteer orientation and oversee that all policies and protocols are in place and being followed by staff, volunteers and visitors. Tasks include: Assist with seasonal cleaning and opening of the museum. Assist with training and orienting summer staff. Oversee day-to-day museum operations as a team leader. Set daily, weekly, monthly goals and ensure they are met. Collaborate with Curator/Archivist to prepare staff schedules, time sheets, projected tasks and handle concerns arising with regards to the day-to-day operations. Assist in gathering statistics and preparing quarterly reports to council. Follow records management and financial recording procedures. Assist with directing and recording the activities of museum volunteers. Assist with organizing special fundraising events. Schedule, plan and oversee school group and day camp visits. Schedule limited access tours of the museum including planning the tour program and tour logistics. Greet visitors to the museum and visitor information centre and deal with routine inquiries and/or complaints from museum visitors. Maintain and create museum displays. Promote new exhibits. Visitor Experience Assistant (4 Positions)

The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Visitor Experience Assistant for the McDougall Mill Museum. Visitor Experience Assistants are the main point of contact for museum visitors. They greet visitors, provide an orientation to the museum, answer questions and are available to provide guided tours and point out key artifacts. They are also responsible for gift shop and refreshment sale transactions. McDougall Mill Museum works in partnership with the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association as a visitor information centre. Visitor Experience Assistants act as ambassadors of the Ottawa Valley, answer questions and promote Renfrew County attractions, events and businesses. Visitor Experience Assistants follow a cleaning schedule that involves the washrooms, office and museum grounds. They are also responsible for the routine cleaning of the 3 floors of exhibitions accessible to the public. Visitor Experience Assistants interact with school tours, summer day camp visits as well as group visits. They also prepare displays and programming for special events such as Canada Day. As time permits, Visitor Experience Assistants may assist the Curator/Archivist with collections management activities such as inventory, data entry, records management, rehousing collections in storage, cataloguing and updating exhibitions. Collections Assistant - Museum

The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Collections Assistant for the McDougall Mill Museum. The collections assistant position will catalogue military artifacts at the McDougall Mill Museum with a focus on uniforms, insignia and medals. Cataloguing involves historical research, technical writing, photography, data entry using Past Perfect and artifact handling. The Collections Assistant will be expected to reach out to other local heritage organizations for assistance if required to find relevant information or answers to specific questions. From time to time, the Collections Assistant will liaise with the public where they will be expected to promote the project they are working on. GIS Technician

The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of GIS Technician – Summer Term. We are seeking a university/college student or recent graduate to assist staff with a variety of administrative and technical duties. The successful candidate will be engaged with the Town’s GIS system as it relates to land use planning, asset management and public works/construction activities. The summer employee will assist in field data collection, utilizing and modifying a database and associated forms, data QA/QC, data manipulation, and computer aided drafting/mapping. Excellent computer skills are essential in this position. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MS Word, Excel, and Teams, PDF editors (Acrobat Pro), and web browsers would be beneficial.
