The Town of Renfrew is located on the traditional territory of the Algonquin People and would like to thank the Algonquin people and express our respect and support for their rich history, and we are extremely grateful for their many and continued displays of friendship.

Mayor Tom Sidney has issued the following statement: "The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an important day for our community to come together and take the time to learn, listen and reflect. However, the learning, listening and gaining a better wholesome understanding just doesn't happen one day a year. It's a daily process and I am proud of the direction the Town of Renfrew is going with an understanding that we have more to learn, more to understand and a lot more listening to do. Renfrew is committed."
