Town Council Proclaims September 22nd, 2023 as Recovery Day in Renfrew

Recovery Day supports individuals with substance use disorders, looks to remove barriers of stigma and discrimination, demonstrates positive outcomes, and celebrates the many diverse pathways to increased wellness.
Recovery Day was hosted on September 22nd, 2023, from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Low Square in front of Renfrew Town Hall.
At the Town Council meeting on September 19th, 2023, Council proclaimed September 22nd, 2023 as Recovery Day in Renfrew.
WHEREAS, substance use disorders continue affecting the lives of individuals, families and communities in the Ottawa Valley; and
WHEREAS, many citizens and organizationslabour to remove the barriers ofstigma and discrimination; and
WHEREAS, increased health is a real, available, attainable,sustainable and ongoing journey in our community; and
WHEREAS, together, through our personal stories and our shared experience, we demonstrate the outcomes possible; and
WHEREAS, we choose to CELEBRATE the many diverse pathways to increased wellness, that enrich all of our lives; and
WHEREAS, we, the people of Renfrew, say in unison, “WE SUPPORT RECOVERY in all it’s forms.
THEREFORE, on behalf Renfrew Town Council, it is hereby proclaimed September 22nd, 2023 is Recovery Day in Renfrew.
Renfrew Mayor Tom Sidney attended the event and presented a scroll to the organizers recognizing the imporatnce of Recovery Day.
