Position Description:

Do you love working with children and have a knack for making them feel comfortable around you? Are you energetic and creative, but also able to design online web pages and use apps and social media comfortably? Renfrew Public Library is seeking a talented and creative individual to lead our Summer Reading Club! Does this sound like you? Read on!

The successful candidate will plan, prepare, implement, promote and market creative, imaginative, FUN programs for children. They will visit schools and community groups to promote the program. They will design ways to engage children online. This program serves children from ages 2-13. The successful candidate will also be required to learn basic library procedures as needed.

  • Previous experience working with children and the public considered an asset
  • Prefer candidates interested in pursuing careers in education, technology, arts and culture, recreation, or other fields related to child development, or library programming; or other careers focused on the social, cultural and/or educational benefit of children and/or the community
  • Able to work occasional evenings & weekends
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible) and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
  • Willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment;
  • Be a full-time high school, college, CEGEP or university student (as defined by their educational institution) in the spring 2020 semester and be returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2020

Rate of Pay/Hours of Work:

  • $15.00/Hour
  • Up to 30 hours/week for 14 weeks
  • Job runs May through August

ontrac Employment Resource Services provides free employment assistance services in three offices – Arnprior (since 2000), Smiths Falls (since 2002), and Renfrew (since 2018). Each office contains a fully equipped resource centre which includes computers with internet access, photocopiers, fax machines, job boards, newspapers, career-search resources and materials, community resources, and professional staff to provide assistance and support.
